Eliminating the need to modify the first line of wage types on infotype 0008 (Basic Pay) helps to ensure correct data is used for paying tipped employees. The assigned wage type 1400 (Hourly-tips) for the tip rate is now a predetermined value that cannot be overwritten. This removes the need to overwrite the assigned wage type in the Basic Pay infotype when an employee is hired into or transferred out of a tipped position.
The 1400 wage type populates according to a TIP position indicator in the Position Infotype 9010 (Specific Position Data) by the Department of Finance’s Office of Personnel Management (DFA-OPM) Class & Compensation group. The TIP position indicator must be set by the OPM Class & Compensation group before the 1400 wage type can default into the IT0008 (Basic Pay) record.
The web document Tipped Employee Changes offers additional information about these modifications.
