Microsoft has recently released 2 products that are not yet approved for use by AASIS users. Please take this information into consideration when upgrading or purchasing new computers for AASIS users.
64-bit Microsoft Office 2010
The 64-bit version of Microsoft Office 2010 does not work when called by AASIS. AASIS currently uses a 32-bit interface known as SAP GUI. Attachments, downloads, and extractions may lock affected machines. Therefore, IT technicians should confirm that computers that run AASIS have the 32-bit version of Microsoft Office installed.
SAP plans to create a 64-bit version of the SAP GUI for Windows that will be compatible with the 64-bit version of Microsoft Office 2010. However, the target date for the 64-bit SAP GUI is June 2013. Once the SAP GUI is released, the AASIS Service Center (ASC) will download and test it thoroughly before it is released.
The Windows 8 operating system is also not supported by the current SAP GUI. There is a new SAP GUI available, but it has not been tested and has not been made available by the ASC. We will let you know the plans for SAP GUI on Windows 8 in a future communication.
