AnnouncementNew Error Messages for Basic Pay (IT0008) Records
Description

New error messages will be displayed on Basic Pay (Infotype 0008) when incorrectly processing a Promotion/Demotion Action through PA40:  Please see table below:

 

Basic Pay Error Message Table for Processing Promotion/Demotion Actions

 

Error Message                                                                Reason

 

 

Grade must change on a Promotion/Demotion Action.  Grade entered equals Employee’s Current Grade

 

Position not changed on Action (IT0000) or Current position not crossgraded/downgraded/restored.  Change the position number or contact your OPM Class & Comp analyst.

 

Or

 

User processed the Execute Info Group button subsequent to the processing of a Basic Pay (IT0008) record (with a given Start Date) for designated employee.

 

 

12% Promotion used only for Career Service Grade to Prof/Exec Grade

 

A 12% salary increase is selected; however, only a 10% salary increase allowed when moving to another position within same pay plan.

 

 

12% Demotion used only for Prof/Exec Grade to Career Service Grade

 

A 12% salary decrease is selected; however, only a 10% salary decrease allowed when moving to another position within same pay plan.

 

 

10% Promotion used only for same level promotions

 

A 10% salary increase is selected; however, only a 12% salary increase allowed when moving from a position on the Career pay plan to a position on the Prof/Exec pay plan.

 

 

10% Demotion used only for same level demotions

 

A 10% salary decrease is selected; however, only a 12% salary decrease allowed when moving from a position on the Prof/Exec pay plan to a position on the Career pay plan.

 

 

Entered Grade cannot be less than Employee’s Current grade for a Promotion Action

 

A promotion action is created using a position with a grade lower than employee’s current position.

 

 

Salary should not increase with Demotion Action

 

A demotion action is created using a position with a grade higher than employee’s current position.
