Diversity and Inclusion Team
The DFA Diversity and Inclusion Team is dedicated to developing and implementing strategies and programs to ensure equal employment opportunities for protected class members as well as promoting opportunities for a diversified and inclusive workforce. The team members represent a cross-section of the department and meet bi-monthly to discuss ideas focused on diversity and inclusion. To date, the team has focused on the following: recruiting qualified candidates for leadership positions, recruiting for diversity at colleges and universities, diversity and inclusion training for DFA leaders, internship program, department-wide professional development and EEOC training.
Diversity and Inclusion Internship Program
The DFA Diversity and Inclusion Internship Program began in the fall of 2020 and is now on its second session. Interns participating in the program have an opportunity to work at participating divisions while receiving mentoring and training in their specialty area. Amy Valentine, HR Manager, Courtney Brown, Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator, and Karen Hultqvist, Tax Auditor Supervisor, spearhead this effort and recruit potential candidates from historically black colleges and universities to participate in the twelve week program. To date, eleven individuals have participated in the program.
Diversity and Inclusion Activities
The Diversity and Inclusion Team is planning initiatives to enhance the diversity and inclusiveness of our workforce. Some of these include the publication of a quarterly newsletter updating DFA employees on the D&I initiatives and profiling our interns as well as providing opportunities to stay informed about trainings on diversity and inclusion.
