Change Self Certification

Federal regulations require all CDL holders and applicants to certify how they operate a commercial motor vehicle when obtaining, renewing, transferring, or upgrading their CDL license. Those certifying a non-excepted type must have a medical certificate submitted by a qualified medical examiner to the Office of Driver Services through the National Registry. If your medical certificate is only valid with a hearing, seizure or a skills performance evaluation variance granted by FMCSA, a “V restriction” will be added to the Commercial Driver License. A “K restriction” will be displayed on the Commercial Driver License for Intrastate commerce.
