More than a million Arkansans now have a REAL ID
331,000 issued since January 1
LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas (June 11, 2025) – The Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration (DFA) announced there are now more than a million Arkansans with a REAL ID. The number increased significantly in the weeks leading up to and following May 7th, the national implementation date. The Department of Homeland Security has advised Americans a REAL ID will be needed to board a flight or enter a federal building.
The total number of Arkansans with a REAL ID surpassed one million within the last few days. A REAL ID may be obtained at any state Revenue Office.
“Arkansans have been well-prepared and patient as we’ve issued more than 331,600 REAL IDs since January 1,” said DFA Secretary Jim Hudson. “Appointments are available for those in need of a REAL ID, saving significant time and effort. I’m grateful to our Revenue Office employees for working after hours the past few months to ensure every customer was served. We remain committed to providing a great Revenue Office experience at offices across the state.”
DFA has 134 Revenue Offices throughout Arkansas. While the majority of states do not issue the REAL ID at the time of the DMV visit, Arkansans leave their Revenue Office visit with a REAL ID. Most states place it in the mail or allow for pick up days later.
As Revenue Offices remain focused on REAL ID, requests for duplicate licenses and IDs will be directed online through July 1. License and ID renewal (within 90 days of expiration) is available at all offices.
