REAL ID Update
LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas (May 9, 2025) – The Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration (DFA) continues to process a record number of REAL IDs across the state’s 134 Revenue Offices.
DFA is monitoring wait times at each office and taking action as needed. The Department is also actively monitoring inventory levels of the products required to produce REAL ID. Shipments of these products are being overnighted to offices throughout Arkansas this week to help meet the demand. Other states are experiencing similar demand for REAL ID’s, creating a nationwide need for the products.
“Arkansans have been well prepared and patient as we have issued more than 150,000 REAL IDs in just over a month, an amount that is over 15 times our monthly average,” said DFA Secretary Jim Hudson. “This week some offices temporarily reached capacity in relation to REAL ID and customers were redirected to nearby offices. However, our offices are being continually restocked with necessary supplies, and DFA staff are working tirelessly to make sure our customers get served. For those who don’t have an immediate need for a REAL ID, we encourage them to check back in with us later in May to avoid the lines. We are pleased Arkansans are utilizing the appointment option. If you do not see an appointment option at your nearby revenue office, that means available appointments have already been taken. Be sure to check other nearby revenue offices that may have available appointments. More appointments will become available for REAL ID over the coming weeks as demand begins to decline.”
Those without a REAL ID may receive additional screening from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) before boarding a flight. TSA will also provide additional information on REAL ID.
Overall, more than 850,000 Arkansans now have a REAL ID.
